Adventure Trail "Golden Man"
Fiss, Tyrol (AT)
Long ago, a giant, known as the “golden man“ sat down to rest on the Schönjoch, in the mountains around Fiss. Over time, he grew into the rock itself, his heart becoming a rich seem of gold. One day, greedy gnomes went on a wild search for the precious metal, carelessly putting the local people at risk from rockslides and falling trees.
The new trail follows the path of the mischievous gnomes and visitors experience their escapades step for step as they near the summit and their prize. This legend and interesting facts about plants and animals is playfully revealed as you go, through a series of beautifully designed stones.
Along the way you meet many animals and other creatures from the story: the lynx, for example. Visitors can sit in the lynx’s giant ear and learn about the mountain’s inhabitants. They can fly through the air with the eagle on the double flying fox and walk on a rope bridge over spectacular gullies. They also meet the nasty gnomes and must escape them via a slide from a climber’s bothy.
New tunnels have been built along the way. In one of them you can see deep inside the mountain. In another visitors can expect to find a digital gnome trap. In the final tunnel, on the touch of a button, you feel the breath of the “Golden Man”, which turns the gnomes to stone. All around the tunnel you see the faces of the fossilized gnomes embedded in the rock.
